Common Application and Selection Process

COMMON ADMISSION PROCESS AND PROGRAM APTITUDE TEST

All candidates need to complete the Common Application Form (CAF) as the first step in the admission process. Selection is on the basis of the application material and the performance in the Program Aptitude Test conducted by NIIT Imperia.

Application Process

1. The CAF is in two parts, Part-A and Part-B. Both parts may be completed online or by writing on the CAF blank that can be downloaded or collected from NIIT Imperia centres. Part-A needs to be completed and payment towards Application Fees made, in order to be permitted to appear at the Program Aptitude Test (PAT). Part-B needs to be completed latest by the time of appearing for the PAT. Photocopies of supporting documents (2 passport-sized photographs, academic certificates from +2 stage, and documents in support of work experience) must also be submitted latest by the time of the PAT.

2. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill the stated eligibility requirements. Permission to appear for PAT does not imply that application data or eligibility requirements have been verified by NIIT Imperia.

3. Candidates need to carry a valid photo-id to the PAT. They should ensure that details on the CAF match with the photo-id.

4. Candidates may apply for admission to more than one program on the same CAF, stating their order of preference. Application Fees are calculated as:
• Rs 1000/- towards the first program for which admission is sought
• Rs 250/- for each program for which admission is sought, beyond the first

Program Aptitude Test

6. The combined Program Aptitude Test (PAT) is a test of aptitude, and requires no preparation. It is 90-minute online test consisting of about 60 objective-type questions. A full-length Mock PAT is available on the website.

7. PAT will be administered at NIIT Imperia centres on  given dates/times specified in the CAF. Candidates are required to give their preferences for PAT dates/times in the CAF.

24th May, 31st May, 1 and 7th June 2008( Time 7.00-9.00 pm)

 8. Valid applicants will receive an Admit Card for PAT by email. The time and venue will be specified on the Admit Card. Candidates must carry a valid photo-id with them to the test venue.

Selection Process and Fees Payment

9. Selection for the programs is a prerogative of the Institute’s concerned. In addition to the PAT score, there is an assessment of suitability through the application material.

10. A merit list is prepared according to the PAT score, and candidates are taken up for consideration in this merit-order. For a candidate, programs are taken up for consideration in the order of preference specified by the candidate. A candidate is considered for selection to his highest-preferred program first; he is SELECTED if he is suitable for that program and seats are available. If not selected, he is then considered for his second option, where again, he is SELECTED if he is suitable and seats are available.

11. A waiting-list is maintained for every program in excess of the seats available for that program. While considering a candidate in merit order, he is WAITLISTED for a program if he is suitable for the program and waiting-list seats are still available, though confirmed seats have been exceeded. Even when he is WAITLISTED for a program, the process continues to search for the candidate’s next-highest preferred program, in case confirmed seats are available for a lesser-preferred program. Thus, the process ensures that a candidate may be WAITLISTED for many programs, but will be SELECTED for only one program – that program which is the highest-preference on his list for which seats are available.

12. The results of the Selection Process will be announced on the website on 18th June 2008 and at NIIT Imperia centres for all candidates.

13. The Deferred Commencement Option is available for candidates remaining waitlisted after the second run of the Selection Process. Upon payment of a non-refundable Booking Amount of Rs 5000/-, they have the facility of pre-admission into any of their waitlisted programs at the next offering of the same program. The Booking Amount is adjustable against the registration Fees of the program. In case the next offering of the same program does not take place by June 2009, the candidates would be refunded their Booking Amounts. The Deferred Commencement Option would expire and the Amount would be forfeited in case the candidate does not register for the next offering of the Program.
